Chris Brown is like a version of a 1980's Michael Jackson ... that is when he is not going around beating up girls.

This video of The Kooks gives me goosebumbps. don't ask why...
its just all kinds of goodness. Like warm apple pie ala mode!

and props to La Blogotheque.. where the video came from.
their site is great, so if you understand French (i don't)
and/or Love amazing music (I DO) checkkkk it out!

on to another point:

i neeeed this jacket. I already have 2 faux-leather jackets.. (different cuts/style)
a tad obsessed? no. because we all know you can never have too many black jackets!
It would go prefect with my Charles David black booties, bowler (derby) hat and a sky blue button up mens dress shirt.

"Is that your swimsuit?":: "Is that your Overbite!?!"

The Addams family have always been iconic in my opinion. They are the ideal dysfunctional family that
you can help to love and be (fashionably) inspired... Mortica always looked fierced in her fitted black dressed and
jet black (long) locks. While Garcia always looked put together with his striped suit and charming stache & pipe... I only dream
to one day look half as good as her..and have a beau just as charming looking as Garcia..yumm.

[Hannah Marshall AW08-Code Black; Armour Dress, Volume Dress, Sharp V Dress, Trapeze Dress]

And to further feed your (uhhmm or mine) Mortica obsession- look no futher than Hannah Marshall to find some
amazing pieces that you can use for your attempt at a modern twist on Mortica-look...my favorite being that sharp V dress.
paired with some black heels and youre ready to go hang out at a cemetery... or a bar will do just fine, too.

Meowwwww

While driving to school, I was at a stop light and for some weird reason I decided to look to my left.
Next to me was the most amazing man, ever. He was wearing a black skull beanie, smoking a massive cigar
and sipping on his starbucks iced coffe. He screamed bad ass... I think it was the massive cigar haha. But what
took him over the top, in my mind, was that he was driving a soccer mom van (minivan). I could totally picture him
driving a motorcycle or even a lifted truck... but the fact he was driving a minivan which gives him 10+ points in my book.

so what's the relevance to Vivienne Westwood..?? Everything! well atleast everything I love about V.W. Her collections
are badass yet versatile. Rock'n roll but easily soften with heels or a blazer... but not like Id want to soften anything up.
Meowwww. [ check up the samples above from her Anglomania S/S '09 collection]

side note:

so I had to include this in the post because it blew my mind::: I was done with class walking back to my car and a guy who was sitting down outside the Business Building caught my attention but I quickly dismissed him because I wanted to get to my
car quickly so I could get my much needed dose of coffee! haha, anywho as i was nearing the parking structured he surpasses
me out of nowhere!! His shoes caught my attention( high top leather sneakers) and then naturally I progress to look upward as
to embrace the rest of his outfitt. To my (good)surprise he was dressed AMAZINGLYYYYY.. He seriously looked like he walked
out of a Rick Owens lookbook/runway (refrence top left picture) minus the height which he lacked but we can see pass that. I was in AWE. Let me explain my amazement.. I live in Orange County where everyone looks like a beach bum or like Ed Hardy threw up on them... and my school (Long Beach State) is even worse. Everyone is dressed like they just rolled out of bed and like the only shoes they own are a pair of sandals. This guy seriously just brought hope/light into my world!!!

La La Love

aside from Mapplethorpe's Polaroid table book
I really neeeed to get my hands on 13 Most Beautiful...
Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests

it features 13 of Warhols classic silent portraits.
Those included: the lovely Nico, Lou Reed, Dennis Hopper
the classic beauty that is Edie Sedgwick..and more.
Shot between 1964-66 at The Factory Studio in New York City

i just need to cough up 250 bucks...sell a kidney??
definitely worth it.

Free Soul

There is nothing more beautiful than humanity in a "simple" state.
I am always inspired & moved when artists (photographers) deviate from the
norm- idealistic standards of beauty; overly photoshop, scarily skinny models, fake backgrounds, etc.
And instead focus on simplicity/reality. On every day people in everyday/vulnerable settings.
Photographers like Jurgen Teller, Robert Mapplethorpe,
Terry Richardson, and the photographer whose photo I have posted above Ryan Mcginley
These are the photographers whose work I look to for daily insperation. I hope you enjoy them, too.

p.s. to truly appreciate their work one must re-conceptualize beauty.
Otherwise you will possibly be offended/disturbed, hah.

New Year. Time to re-stock!

[soma dress, la jolla top, braided tank]

It is no surprise for those that know me that I like very minimal/neutral/dark
clothes; think Alexander Wang, Franisco Costa, Comme des Garcon.. you get the flow.
But I do tend to deviate from my usual attractions for prints-brighter clothes done right.
And it couldn't be any truer for Steven Alan spring '09 collection. Its nothing short
of magical. Can you just picture the soma dress with frye boots; la jolla top with a high waisted skirt; the braided tank with some demin worn out shorts. Ahhh Dreammy. The possibilities are endless. And that is what good clothes are all about... The ability to transform and adabt any single garment to thy self; through playful mixing and matching.
